1. Charges and Costs: How much will they charge for preliminary/basic web page and web site design? I personally don’t call it a basic website due to the need to have a website that catches your audience. I charge $1200 to do a personalized website which also includes a year worth of hosting and your domain name (.com). I have many samples of my work and references too. These are listed below. 2. Are services provided on a flat fee/retainer or per hour/item basis? How are edits/changes billed? Will we be able to make changes to our site? Are there additional fees required for this access? Edits can be done in 1 of 2 ways. A back-end (A secure page that you log in to make changes) can be created so that you can do your own changes or I can do them if you wish this makes it easier for you. There is no additional fee for the back end. I do changes at request for $35 per hour. 3. What additional/unanticipated costs and contingency charges should you prepare for? The only additional cost you will need to prepare for is after the first year there will be hosting (about $10 per month) and domain charge ($8 per year per .com) or if you wish to set up e-Commerce the costs are below. 4. Will we own the site/code when completed? Yes the site is yours as well as the domain names. You must watch out for companies that don’t do this. There are people out there that will use your domain name to get you to pay them and sometimes it is in the thousands of dollars. I set up domains owned by YOU through TOPDOMAINHOSTING.com. You have the total access to use and change them. 5. Where will the site be housed? If on their server what are the hosting fees? The site will be hosted on TOPDOMAINHOSTING.COM they have a servers set up in a secure facility for your security and reliability. As stated above the first year is included and there are no hidden set up fees. 6. Time and Schedule: How long will it take to prepare initial designs? The initial design should take 1-3 weeks depending on your information and needed text. Flash content and back end programming can make it longer according to needs of the customer. 7. How long to prepare the finished versions of a web page? As stated above the usual turn around is 1-3 weeks. This varies according to needed items such as pictures, description text and changes needed. 8. Are they prepared to set a firm schedule for regular updates of our site? We can update you site when you wish as stated above. 9. Can the web designer promptly accommodate "emergency" or quick-turnaround adjustments and changes to your business website? 10. References and Experience: Have they produced custom website development packages for companies similar to yours? Can they provide references we can contact and or provide URLs of sites they have developed so we can take a look? There is a partial list below of some of our customer’s sites and we would be happy to show you more if requested. 11. Growth and Expansion: Do they possess experience – and references – with E-commerce and retail transaction business websites, should we decide our website needs to add these features down the road? We can provide E-commerce solutions now or if needed later down the road. We use a well known gate way provider that can set you up with a merchant account if you don’t already have one. You need to watch what services you use for this due to the costs associated with merchant account and gateways. Some charge setup fees and have many hidden charges. Our charges and fees are listed below. If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to do E-commerce we can set your site up through papal and most of the hassles and associated costs will go away. 12. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) / Submission services? What sort of time/turnaround do they guarantee for SEO services to take effect? We can put your site in Google, yahoo, and the other major search engines. We can include this in the site at no charge for the initial submission. We can however not guarantee your ranking in these search engines. We do have a company (3D party) that will guarantee top page submissions to all the major search engines or there will be no charge. They email a screen capture of your site on the search engines you request and do not charge till you receive it. This runs between $39 and $199 per month according to what engines you want on. 13. What other web marketing and web site promotion services do they offer? Your site can be advertised in many ways. Search engines, other websites, Google adwords, banners, and services that specialize in search engine top rankings. We also encourage clients to look into magazine and newspaper advertisement.
